Here at C&K Mackay North Community Kindergarten we believe in a nature play based way of learning and developing. We spend a lot of time outside in our beautiful yard where the children are able to create and explore. We have a mud pit, sand pit, a herb and vegetable garden which the children help to maintain, and a beautiful tree swing when it’s time to relax. We also have 2 beautiful chickens that roam the yard and a fairy garden that the children love to explore.
Child-Led Learning: No two days are the same at C&K Mackay North Community Kindergarten. Our teaching team tailor each day’s learning taking into account the interests of the children in the group. The spacious environment at our kindy is thoughtfully planned and well resourced, allowing us to cater for all children and their individual needs. There is a focus on music & movement, drama & role play, art & creativity and story-telling & oral language development. We also have designated literacy and numeracy areas where the children can draw and explore writing as well as count, categorise, create patterns and represent numbers.
Community spirit is important to us at C&K Mackay North Community Kindergarten. We foster our strong ties to the local community by encouraging parent involvement in the daily operations of the kindy. We often hold and partake in local community events and love connecting with local businesses and groups around us. Where possible, we conduct excursions based on the children’s learning and development and also regularly invite guests here to learn more. Locally, we raise money for the Australian Wildlife Rescue Service and are a collection point for the Aussie Breadtags for Wheelchairs charity, helping to inspire our future global citizens. We are also proudly a Reef Guardian centre and strongly promote sustainable practice to help protect our waterways and marine life for future generations.
Joined the Reef Guardian School program in 2012.
