Whitsunday Reef Protection Project 2024
In late 2024, our non-profit organisation completed a series of coral surveys in the Whitsunday Islands as part of our Reef Preservation Project.
New Beginnings International's Whitsunday Reef Preservation Project was designed to create a baseline of data for further research leading to methods of Reef Preservation (as distinct from Reef Restoration). The project, led by our CEO Ben Braeuer, was completed over a 2-months period, involving both a Marine Biologist (our former intern) from Griffith University, and a new Marine Science intern from James Cook University.
Results from the coral surveys conducted using Reef Check Methods were uploaded to the International Database, with two reports (Executive and detailed) produced at the end of the project.
