The Reef Guardian School team is delighted to shine a spotlight on Marcia, whose dedication, cultural insight, and commitment to community enrich our work at the Reef Authority every day.
Marcia joined the Reef Authority in 2023 through the Indigenous Apprenticeships Government Development Program, graduating with distinction and bringing, a strong foundation in public service, cultural knowledge, and community engagement. Marcia’s pathway into the organisation reflects her commitment to lifelong learning and drive to contribute meaningfully to our environmental future.
As a mother of 8, Marcia’s commitment to education, advocacy and community focused initiatives shapes her approach to supporting schools. Marcia adds a values-driven perspective shaped by her deep connection to the Sea and to North Queensland. Marcia brings a thoughtful, culturally grounded perspective to her work, championing truth-telling, recognition, and the importance of young people caring for County.
Marcia work reflects the spirit of the Reef Guardian School program: collaboration, curiosity, and a shared responsibility for protecting the Great Barrier Reef for generations to come.
