Future Leaders Congress

Which students should participate?

Four students from Years 5 to 10 may represent your school as delegates at the Future Leaders Congress. The four students selected to participate should have the following skills, attitudes and attributes:

  • A genuine interest in and commitment to being involved in an ongoing environmental project
  • Ability to relate well with wide sections of the community
  • Ability to lead and model good practices
  • A good School Ambassador.

What do we need to present at the Congress?

Each school will be expected to present a 10 minute presentation that addresses the key questions for the 2006 Future Leaders Congress. Delegates are challenged to be as creative as possible when preparing their presentation. Facilities such as a slide projector, overhead projector, data projector and laptop computer will be available for use if you need them. An area will also be available to pin up materials relevant to your presentation.

Please Note:  Presentations should run for no longer than 10 minutes.

Delegates and other students from participating schools are also invited to create and submit a 2D work (painting, drawing, collage, digital image etc) based on the key questions. The guidelines for this artwork are:

  • Size: at least A2 (4xA4)
  • Paper: mounted on thick cardboard
  • Style: 2D image, painting, drawing, collage, digital image
  • Subject: must be based on one or more of the key questions for the Congress
  • Artworks should be mailed or submitted directly to the Great Barrier Reef Marine park Authority (2-68 Flinders Street Townsville Q 4810) along with your name, your class, the name of your school and contact details.

Selected artworks will be displayed at your local Future Leaders Congress.
