Reef Beat 2004

Reef Beat 2004 - Catchments to Coast is a product of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority.
Reef Beat - Catchments to Coast provides students and teachers with information about the connectivity between catchments and the Great Barrier Reef. Activities and feature articles included in this resource enable students and teachers to learn more about their local catchments and the Great Barrier Reef, while also helping them to become involved in the recovery of our precious land and reef communities by assisting to improve the quality of water entering the Reef.
This year's Reef Beat series has been divided into regions, so students that live along the coast adjacent to the Great Barrier Reef will learn about issues that directly affect their area. This will enhance the value of the Reef Beat series, as students will learn about the Great Barrier Reef and its entire catchment area as well as their local land and water environments.
Reef Beat feature articles will be distributed in a range of forms depending on the region. For example, Reef Beat in the Cairns and Gladstone regions will be available through the Newspapers in Education (NIE) lift out in local newspapers (Cairns Post and Gladstone Observer) during Term 1 of 2004. However, in the Townsville/Thuringowa region the series will be available to schools through mail-out from the GBRMPA during Term 2.
