Reef Guardian Schools Annual Report and Awards
The Reef Guardian Schools Program aims to provide environmental education for sustainability that encompasses a vision of education that seeks to empower people of all ages to be custodians for creating a sustainable future for the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.
The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority would like to thank your entire school community for their commitment to the Reef Guardian Schools Program. The wealth of school based activities and initiatives that we have been witness to, truly demonstrates that students participating in the program are developing as active citizens that are:
- Actively engaged, interested and enthusiastic about exploring the world around them.
- Becoming more self-directed and motivated with an ongoing interest in learning about the environment.
- Making sense of and understanding the complexity of environmental concepts.
- Able to make ethical decisions about environmental issues and education their local community about best environmental practices.
The annual report and awards process allows the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority to accurately monitor Reef Guardian School outcomes, determine avenues for program enhancement, recognise the outstanding commitment of students and their school community and provide funding support to future Reef Guardian School projects.
