Keel: Longitudinal plates or timbers extending along the bottom of a vessel from front to back.

Kilometre: A measure of length equal to 1,000 meters or about 5/8 of a mile.

Kingdom: In biology, a category that's part of the scientific system for grouping together related plants, animals and other organisms (kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, species). Kingdom is the broadest category; plants are in a kingdom separate from animals.

Krill: Planktonic crustaceans (mostly of the genus Euphausia) that grow to two inches (5 centimetres) long. Large populations of krill provide the main food for baleen whales and some kinds of fishes.
