Rock Wallaby / Family Macropidae |
The Proserpine rock wallaby is the only land mammal endemic to the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. It is restricted to the Proserpine area and a few off-shore islands in the Whitsundays.
Other mammals found on the islands of the Park include:
- koalas (Phascolarctos cinereus)
- echidnas
- possums
- water rats; and
- fruit bats
